So after confirming the age requirement of 21 with no military exp in another thread of mine, I thought I was all set for orientation and it'd be smooth sailing, well my luck thought otherwise and I had some car problems and had to drop quite a bit of money into it to get it fixed and now I'm extremely low on money. My question is, what does Swift's pay period run from, what day do they pay on? I have orientation this coming monday, the 9th, and I know they don't pay you for orientation ( which is lame ), so let's say I get lucky and get to head out with a trainer on Wednesday the 11th....when would I get my first pay?
What day does SWIFT pay on?

On Pay Day? I think you may be able to take a Advance? See my Signature!
Jay0826 Thanks this. -
Raman Noodles are your friend. Most likely you'll get paid a weekly once you are on a truck.

They pay on Saturday, the pay week ends on Wednesday, but that is once you are driving. I don't know how the scedule works when you do orientation, schooling and training I should remember but I don't. You can get an advance but keep it as low as possible and as great as ramen is you need to be able to cook it. Tuna salad, bread, peanut butter it gets better.

Alright thanks for the replies. I probably won't have to take an advance, it's just I'm going to be cutting things very tight until my first pay. Also I know all about ramen noodles, I actually like them a lot.

If ya dont have to send your training pay back to your family at home, here's a good starter list to save for.
cheap cb radio, to talk to guard shacks $40
electric cooler, I paid $100ish for a big coleman cooler
inverter $100, get the biggest the company allows, often 1500watt
microwave
those 4 things will save you thousands from eatting out of truck stops in the futureJay0826 Thanks this. -
Well, I'm single so I won't need to send any money home. The main thing I'll use my first pay or 2 on will be my car payment and insurance, then after those 2 things I can start putting money back each week.
Are road atlas's a good thing to have? There's a flying J near my house that sells the 2014 laminated ones for like $60. Or should I wait until I'm done with my trainer before I get one of those since he/she will probably have one? -
From the time that you are with a trainer then on your own, the pay day will change. I can not really remember right now. As far as inverter, Swift will only allow 150 watt, but every truck stop has one. My truck is so stocked with complete meals and soups and boy r dee, it is not funny, but then again my truck does have micro and fridge. I would recommend that while with a trainer, just save your money for now and take care of what you need to. The atlas, wait until you are done. More than likely the trainer will let you use theirs. Also the trucks come with GPS, which for the most port, reliable. they will show you fuel stops and truck stops along your route. Also, you can get a laminated Atlas at Wal-Mart, and if you see a CB shop, you can always get a real good used one that has been redone for a good price. Back in 1993 I purchased a old Cobra 29 for about $25, and it lasted almost 15 years. The cooler idea is good, also, Wal-Mart for that

I have the last three years gotten the Laminated Latest Version of the Atlas for $20-30.00 depending on the negotiations, There has been a seller and I'm not sure where they are getting them but in the truck stops I stop at every year, I'm sure they are HOT but I paid for it so that makes it OK to me! But watch for deals on the atlas, Keep these essentials close by, You will need them when the signal is down and you can't find your way out!. Good Luck Out there! Oh to be foot loose and Fancy free keeping all that is made to live on the road, and only have a car Payment and insurance! oh to be young again!
