Maybe this is what Ohio gets for raising their speed limit to 70.

Now, truckers think they have it made, and 65 is now considered "GTFO of my way!" speed.

Question - if there is a "construction" zone, and there are barrels on the shoulder but no work going on at the moment, but speed limit is posted down to 55, is it okay to still go 65? If 65 was the speed limit before the work zone?

And I really hate that- when there IS a work zone, I always slow down to the posted speed limit, sometimes less if need be, sometimes the lanes get skinny and there is a concrete wall right next to you. And then you get another truck right on your rear.

I really wish the cops would patrol work zones more often. MUCH more often.

It shouldn't have to take a big accident to learn your lesson.

Nah, when they see the disco lights they slam on the brakes and start doing 15 under the speed limit.

I hear you on wanting to do a brake check and the bad karma that would result. I slow down, very gradually....and hold my roll about 5mph less. The super truckers are just besides themselves, they have to pass and quit being a bully on the road. If not safe to pass they have to suffer....from their own stupidity.

I'm wondering what difference that makes, if they were in a 55 mph cz? What I notice most is that the only trucks that pass me or ride my ### in 55 zones are all the 65 mph trucks I just passed in the 70 zone.

The only bad part about ohio being at 70, is getting used to it ,, and then having to go to MI :-D

Actually they will be in the trucking regulation section complaining about how unfair the DOT and the government is to them.

    You have a point there.

My truck is governed at 69.5 mph. I would pass all these others, then when c-zone hits, I slow down to 59, then when the work zone actually begins, I slow down to 55. But I will still have everyone else I already passed, on my rear, and then re-passing me. And I keep thinking "Didn't you see the sign?"

Seriously, are you really going to get THAT much further down the road by not slowing down 10mph for 1-2 minutes? Would it really cost you that much time? No, it won't.

Nah, it'll just cost them money. There's tunnel construction in Idaho Springs. I can't count the number of times I've had my doors blown off when slowing for the construction zone. It's 35 MPH around the tunnels. People go shooting through there and then wonder why the fancy flashing lights are in their mirror.
