I have more than once see cops put their lights on to get through a traffic jam, only to turn them off once on the other side
Yes it could have been "official business" but I dont think so

The police union says they shouldn't have to pay because the citations are issued to the owner of the vehicle, in this case the county, and not to the driver?????????? This is one of THE most rediculous statements I have ever heard.

That is true in Illinois as well. But in MD, I guess they must be special.

The thing is like us they are suposed to be setting an example. So only when their lites are going should they be permitted to do this. If not they are setting a bad example and should have to pay a higher fine and risk loosing their job, just like us!

Ok - let the union win. Let the PD pay the fines. Then the PD is fully justified in doing what every other fleet owner would do- run around and *hammer* the offender.

Sorry, Mr. Union Rep - you can NOT have it both ways.

Pfft... must be nice to be able to ignore laws when it suits your purpose.

That's the official line. Like many things in life, the official line and the reality are 180 degrees apart.
