It's your responsibility. I try not to carry anything over 30k.

Woo, busy but good day today. Grabbed a couple donuts from the Peetro in Mebane (you know, the one that truely lives up to the "Peetro" name as they decided to locate the entrance to the mens restroom right as you walk in, and then designing the ventilation system so that it pushes air into the restroom and then fills the entire building with "THE SMELL"? Yeah, that one), and headed towards my delivery in Oxford, NC. Got unloaded there, then stopped back by the Petro for more donuts and a sandwich and fuel (good thing most truck stops don't have a Dunkin Donuts, otherwise I'd be broke) on the way down to Fort Mill, SC.

Live load there, while I was there hopped on the load board and found a load headed back up to Charlotte from where I was headed, so went ahead and booked that as well. After getting loaded, cruised on down to Savannah, GA, drop and hook at Target there. 14 was running out, 2 hours left, but, my load to Charlotte picked up from our logistics yard only 10 miles away, no sense in not grabbing it tonight. About 200 yards from the entrance, I see the fricking train just stopped in the middle of the road. Burned up 30 minutes just sitting there until it finally moved. Finally found a spot to put my empty and grabbed my loaded trailer out of there.

With the 14 running out but wanting to get the heck out of Savannah before morning, it was time for some 70MPH supertrucking back up 95 until I got to my stopping point. Over the 14 by 1 minute by the time I showed my 5 minute post-trip. CLOSE ENOUGH.

Tomorrow I'll deliver up in Charlotte then head over to the OC to do some laundry, take a shower, clean the truck up a bit, etc. Might make a Wal-Mart trip too. Then I'll look at getting a load out of there or going home for a day or so if nothing is headed out of there, but that'll all depend on what I find tomorrow. My last restart was when I took the day off for Thanksgiving so ideally I won't go home until after the full 7 days has past so I can actually restart at home. WTF is the point of the newer once-a-week restart rule? Just... why??

This is my heaviest load since leaving out after Thanksgiving, 30,000lbs. I've been hauling these super light loads that are basically like pulling an empty trailer, I love it. Hopefully they keep showing up.

It's a "Schneider violation", but not a DOT violation. DOT rules state that you can not DRIVE after 14 consecutive hours on duty. You can unload and load trucks 24 hours a day if you really wanted to, or even do constant pre trips and post trips 24 hours a day, but you can't drive until you take 10. Same with the 70 hour rule. You can hit your 70 hour clock for 100+ hours loading and unloading, but you can't DRIVE.

Yeah, it's a violation of Schneider rules, but it's not illegal.

Yeah I got ding the other day for driving over SNI 14hr conveyance rule. I dropped my load off and I bobtailed to the house. Ran over my 14hr , its SNI policy but not DOT policy. I got a call from my DBL and I explained I had a doctors app that morning, he told me even though I was bobtailing its SNI policy not to drive over your 14hr day.

Do your future 40-something body a big favor and lay off the convenience food/ doughnuts now. Fill your cooler or fridge with healthy snacks for those all too frequent days when you've gotta go. Even a powdered whey protein shake is a better choice and very convenient.

i've been past my 14 on duty and have never heard a word from anyone about it. No violations show up on my scorecards for that either. Driving/line 3 on the other hand is a whole different animal.

I've been over on both 11 and 14 several times, no one has ever said anything. I even asked regulatory about it, they said as long as it is not consistent.

you are EXACTLY right......don't know about SNI rules, but I do know you can theoretically work for 50 or 100 hours past your 14.......just can't drive. Tried to tell a fella that one time at the Charlotte OC, but he didn't believe me......I guess reading the Green book was too much of a chore. meh...
