You are right and wrong. Maybe I'm confusing your wording. You don't get free driving time, you still have to add it up. You simply group all the stops totaled up as one followed by grouping all the driving time totaled up within that city as one. "Aggregate" means combined.
Also placing "local" in the remarks could be mistaken as you are claiming you are a local 100 mile driver and exempt from the regulations. I would bracket and flag the group and put something like "3 stops" on top of the flag followed by "city, state" on the bottom of the flag. Then again only city and state is the only requirement but saying what you have done clears up any possible confusion. Always write logs like an auditor is reviewing it and you aren't there to explain any possible questions. It should be question free.

No you are putting too much into this question. You do get free driving time. If you are at a stop for 1 hour and drive to the next stop which is five miles away, and you are there for 1/2 hr all of that time is on the bottom line, as long as you do not cross the city limits of the city where your first stop is. In a big city like Chicago this could go on all day.

Hope this clears it up for you.

The thing about the FMCSA regulations one does have to read them very carefully. Many times and this is one of many regulations where one word makes a difference.

    ag·gre·gate

formed or calculated by the combination of many separate units or items; total.

They didn't use that word which many don't know the definition of for nothing. If you asked me what it was I would of told you it was crushed rocks. :)

Regs, I hate regs. Actually, no I don't hate regs, I hate when 1/2 of my department decides to not follow the regs because ops is putting pressure on them. Grow a spine.

I had a good day, can you tell :)

Just one example of why I have never run e logs and will never run them. If it comes down to it I will fully retire from driving.

Don't know what to tell you in this case but I am 1000% sure of what the regs mean. Maybe someone can tell you how to override that blasted machine.
