By law you have 13 days to mail them which can be done at most truck stops. If they don't have a drop box places like TA will take your out going mail at the fuel desk.

But holding you pay hostage for 2 weeks? Logs have nothing to do with bills. As long as the bills are signed is proof enough of delivery.

    (f) Payment period. The lease shall specify that payment to the lessor shall be made within 15 days after submission of the necessary delivery documents and other paperwork concerning a trip in the service of the authorized carrier. The paperwork required before the lessor can receive payment is limited to log books required by the Department of Transportation and those documents necessary for the authorized carrier to secure payment from the shipper. In addition, the lease may provide that, upon termination of the lease agreement, as a condition precedent to payment, the lessor shall remove all identification devices of the authorized carrier and, except in the case of identification painted directly on equipment, return them to the carrier. If the identification device has been lost or stolen, a letter certifying its removal will satisfy this requirement. Until this requirement is complied with, the carrier may withhold final payment. The authorized carrier may require the submission of additional documents by the lessor but not as a prerequisite to payment. Payment to the lessor shall not be made contingent upon submission of a bill of lading to which no exceptions have been taken. The authorized carrier shall not set time limits for the submission by the lessor of required delivery documents and other paperwork

Companies can still pay you w/o log book. They can not pay w/o Bol. Why companies want to look at ugly truckers all day is beyond me? I suppose a GPS tracker jammed up the driver's behind isn't enough for them. Should put a camera at the dispatcher's desk so you can watch them play solitaire 5 hrs everyday.

I was fined from a compliance review for not having current enough drivers logs. Over 5% gets you fined.

My company holds a check hostage till you turn in another trip envelope. A paycheck is our "reward" for turning in our paperwork right away.

And i see their point on it too.. I've seen some guys not turn in logs for a month or more, Lose fuel slips and B.O.L's etc

Owner operators leased to a company don't always realize how important those logs and truck inspections and BOL are. I've been a leased owner operator and a fleet owner with O.O.s leased to me and the one thing that will get your butt in a jam the quickest is not having current logs and inspections when the D.O.T. comes walking into your office( unannounced) and starts pulling driver files and maintenance files.

You should be turning in your logs with your other paperwork. The company is on the hook during an audit if they don't have your logs. The company has every right to hold your paycheck until you turn in ALL of your paperwork, which includes your logs. If you don't want your check held, then turn in your logs. How difficult can it be to turn in your logs? Why would you object to turning in your logs? Your logs are attached to each load. You put your BOL or pro number on each log sheet, or should. I always turned in my logs with each load. I also kept a copy for my records in case something happened to the logs sent in to the company.

The co I'm leased to they have a checklist you must turn in to get paid. Says so in big letters across top.
somethings are, fuel tickets, mileage report, logs,so on. Don't see what the big deal is,only thing is I never turn in today's log. Have got that call at home about hot load to many times.
