The question I've got is this. The 70 hours in 8 days and the 11 hour rule I understand. But is there a limit to the hour you can drive in a week? Or can I drive as much as I can within the 70 hour?

You will never drive 70 hrs in that week; legally. You will 70 hrs worked first, because you have to log time for pretrip, fueling and other minor things, even if for only a few minutes. Even random DOT inspections have to be logged as on duty.
-
As long as you stay within your 8 / 11 / 14 / 70 hr limits, you can drive all you want.
-
can drive upto 11 hours a day and it counts towards the 70, so say you drive 11 hours a day for 6 days, you have only 4 hours left for day 7 and 8

The 70 hrs is in 8 days, unless you get a reset, which the last rule change made so you are limited during a week to 1 no sooner than 168 hours which is 7 days or 1 week from the last previous reset or longer.
There are lots of rules, and lots of strategies for dealing with those rules. You could conceivably burn through the seventy, and with little time spent on line 4 and most of the 70 used on the drive line, in 5 days, well, 5 days less 10 hours with most of those 70 hours driving.
You can drive for 11 hours after 10 hours off duty, so if you keep moving your start time up, what I stated is possible. -
Download and use on ur cell free logbook apps. it shows everything . if your close to breaking rule it will be in red. or in red at certian time you be over on hours, weekly used hours etc.... free. download the apps. Few out there.
OzzyOKC Thanks this. -
Thanks for this tip. I had an original Iphone back when I last drove 5 years ago but there was nothing for truckers as far as apps at the time. Looking forward to having a new smart phone and getting various apps...such as a phone call recording app for my "cover your ###" file.

your 70 is made up of "on duty" and "driving" time. This is the only weekly (actually 8 days) limit to how much you can drive.
The 11 & 14 are more daily limits although depending on when you take your last 10 hours brake you can drive past midnight. They are more limits since your last 10 hour brake, not really daily.
the 8 hour is like a shortened 14 that get reset with only a 30 min break.
34 hour reset resets all clocks but cant be taken more then once a week and must include 2 periods between 1 ans 5 am.
You will never driver 70 hours in 8 days since some of that time will be wasted on pre trips, loading, unloading, fueling, postrips etc.
Assuming you have a 3000 mile run coast to coast, you will still need to fuel, pretrip and post trip. -
Go to Canada and not deal with the bs you have to in america.
