Not sure if this helps,.. but when I ran reefer I ran through there a lot and up into to NH a bit. Going up I 93 I would scale myself at the DOT weigh stations. Even when closed, the bright red digital read out was always on and its free.

I do this at the Richmond Indiana scales on I70
Every time I've done it someone freaks out on the radio thinking they blew an open weigh station. lol
Ralph4159 and Skydivedavec Thank this. -
Let us know how it went, murg.

Lots of places like that. When ever I leave Chicago the Indiana scale house on I94 is usually closed at night and they leave the digital scale read out open. A couple in Fife and Seattle Wa like that too. Beats paying $10 - $14 plus what ever for a re-weigh.
And yeah,.. I've actually had another driver follow me in thinking the scale was open and I must know something he didnt. I got on the radio and told him I was just using the free scale. He said oh,.. good idea.

These are great ideas, particularly using the DOT scales for a quick check. We need cert scale tickets for some things because we're a HHG company.
