While I do not mind driving almost anywhere there is available fuel, food and plumbing. There are a hand full of states I refuse to go to; even if someone else is driving. In this industry, how does a new CDL-A recipient get out of going to these states without acquiring a derogatory DAC; and anything else they can think of doing?
Apologies if this has been posted previously. After searching using some specific keywords, there were just way to may results.
How to exempt yourself from driving through certain states?

Run regional or local.
Which states are you referring to?GITRDUN45 Thanks this. -
??? DAC is a private subscription based driver reporting agency (Hireright) used by a small percentage of trucking companies. It's used mainly by the larger companies that can afford the service.
You must be thinking about MVRs and a driver's PSP (CSA2010).
You protect it by keeping your ducks in a row and following the rules. Then there is no need to dodge certain states. You can get in trouble in any of them.
An owner can be selective if they so choose. Usually being selective is for the best paying freight where they run, not the laws. If any some avoid CA for all the added regulations. -
From what I've been reading, when your a new driver they almost always assign you to OTR; unless you are extremely lucky. Am I incorrect?

mje Thanks this. -
You dont want to drive in 25% of the country? That's a tough one, regional/local is your best bet, good luck.
CDL-A Thanks this. -
Yes there is reason (need) for me to steer clear of those listed states. The reasons have nothing to do with Criminal background or the like. Short version is --I will not 'currently' voluntarily step foot within those states I listed.
-
And what's so bad about those states? I fail to see a connection.
biggare1980 and pattyj Thank this. -
Being extremely new to the trucking industry, I want be agreeable, but currently, there are certain things within those listed states that we must steer clear of; yet, we have to maintain employment. I also don't want to seem like I am making demands of my employer telling him/her what I will or will not do.
Hence, this post. -
Like what?

A little piece of information for you , over 65% of freight hauled and consumer goods used in the United states goes to the very areas you don't want to drive! Thinkabout it if you drive those areas you can drive anywhere! and by you being a rookie I don't think it's smart to say you don't want to drive certain areas! good luck !
joseph1135, pattyj, GITRDUN45 and 1 other person Thank this.
