How to exempt yourself from driving through certain states?

So why do you wanna drive trk if you refuse to go to those states?Not to be mean or disrespectful but if you chose OTR you will be delivering to those states no way around it.During training you will be going thru or delivering to those states.So either get over your fear or find another line of work.You live in Ohio so you may find regional or dedicated but don't hold your breath.There are many companies that only run a certain region you just have to look and see if they have a training program.

There are many companies that have options to sign on to, such as Southeast Regional, Southwest Regional, Texas Regional. Worse comes to worse, you might have to change your state of residence to qualify especially since Illinois is pretty close to you and a lot of freight moves through there.

Start searching for local or companies with regional jobs:

JBS Carriers
Decker Truck Line

and many others.

 

Move to Texas where there is no personal income taxes. JBS Carriers has a Texas Regional which shows on their website. Go to the website and click on "Drive 4 Us." Trucking company websites will show if they offer regional or local jobs.

Houston, TX or about anywhere South or Southeast of Houston is good for many local/regional jobs with tankers, flatbed and some reefer grocery companies.

 

That's all I can see is moving down south and running regional. From OH you'd be all over your list. Maybe later with experience you could run up and down I-75. on a dedicated run from OH. There is always local and intrastate driving. There's good money in LTL as a P&D driver.

No need to be scared of those states you listed.

 

That's about it. Also look at Careerbuilder and Indeed websites for those jobs. If you put Houston, TX in those websites you'll probably see a thousand jobs available for what you're looking for.

Texas is a good state, unless you're George Strait because "All his ex's; live in Texas."
