The only contracts you'll have with the company are the same ones that you'll have with the finance company... the agreement to repay the tuition. The only difference is that the company sponsored school will generally have a provision for the company to pay some or all of the tuition when certain conditions are met, such as staying with the company for a specified length of time or a number of miles driven.

There is no obligation to drive for the sponsoring company.

You'll be leaving a job making 700-800 per week to get one that pays the same or less - and you need much of that just to live on the road.
Which means much less for your family.

You sound like a very selfish person. You are putting your own desires above the needs of your family.
If you go with it, it will bite you big time. From so many directions.
And you will deserve it, every step of the way.

This post that I responded to has so many red flags, and you don't even see them.

 

Do you currently have decent healthcare/medical benefits? Not starting a political debate, but that will become a biggie to a lot of drivers next year.

 

That is the most intelligent thing I have read so far.


You are seeing the red flags with how she is responding to you.
Heed those warnings before it is too late.

And I'll tell you something.
Even if you could send her enough money each week, would it be worth it?
To you, or to her, or to your kids?

You would only see them a few days per month.
You would be totally away from them for 3-5 weeks at a time. And when you did get home it would be more of a short visit.
It is not like working long hours at a regular job, where you get home each day and see them for an hour or so - and then the weekend when you can have fun.
It is not seeing them, and them not being able to be with you, for weeks at a stretch.
You won't be there for your kids' school functions, and you won't be there when your wife wants you close.

Personally, if I had a wife and 3 kids, I would never even consider going OTR - even for a year.

 

I wish you luck with whatever you decide to do, however it sounds to me like you have a pretty stable job already and get home every night, while you may reach your financial goal going OTR, i think you will find it hard to find a local job driving a truck in Florida that will pay you more than you are making now, if it were me i would stay put, or plan on moving out of Florida where your earning potential will get better, it is fun getting your CDL A, well it was for me, but once you get working the novelty will wear off, specially as you have a family at home, anyway like i said, good luck to you.
