Have a look on the Ritchie bros auction site for past selling prices, you have to register but it is easy they don't want much info. If you want a longhood buy one, setbacks don't turn as sharp as the accountants would have you believe. there are lots of 235 inch longhoods around. engine choice the rest already covered. consider local repair shops (not dealers) in your area when you are making your choice. Do not buy a 8 bag kenworth for a farm truck in alberta unless you like to be stuck. Buy something with lockers and consider fairly deep gears 4.10 ish for field friendly conditions.

Get a cheap reliable early 2000's daycab keep the weight down and they are easier to get around in.. Stay away from the twin turbo cats they suck... Try to get a pre egr cummins or Detroit if you go that route... less things to mess .... up... that is if you don't live in the peoples republic of california

If it were me, I would look for a Kenworth T-600 with a Cummins N-14 motor in it. The N-14 Cummins is bulletproof. They were only replaced by the ISX motor because of the EPA.

If your harvest hauling involves bailing out into the fields, I'd recommend a Pete with their Air Trac style of a suspension. They do really well in the dirt. I can get mine anywhere a Chalmers or Hendrickson truck will go. 24.5 tall tires would also be a good idea to get you a little extra ground clearance.
