That is a boatload of miles Duo! Congratulations on your success.
What if I don't meet anyone I am interested in teaming with? Can I run solo? How long was your training?

You can run solo & they do have dedicated accounts for solo drivers. I met a driver the other day who is doing the Coors dedicated. He said he is doing 3,000 to 3,500 miles a week. He picks up the beer from the Coors plant in Denver then delivers to their distributors. Make sure you ask what other accounts US Xpress has, especially since your from NY.

If you plan on teaming then you have to do 120 hours with a trainer but if you plan on going solo then 150 hours with a trainer. Its about 2 weeks.

    TrainerX Thanks this.

I liked applied to Interstate Fisher, but they said I needed 1 year of experience (is there any way around that with companies?).

US Xpress sounds better with each communication Duo. How did you meet your team partner? How is life with two (dudes?) in tight quarters over-the-road? Do you have a pet riding along?

My team partner is my wife. Life on the road has it's ups and downs but I'm glad I have my wife. The road is lonely for most drivers out here. I have so much respect for these guys who are gone from their families for long periods of time.

That sounds like a great setup Duo. Maybe i'll see you guys on the road sometime (that is if US Xpress can overlook a stupid felonious mistake 4 years ago).

    This is my problem Duo

    Fleeing/Assault - Felony 3/2009

I was sitting in my parked car after having a fold out dvd player installed. I was learning the touchscreen features when 4 police cars surrounded my vehicle. After being harassed regarding why I was parked in an industrial area late at night (10pm, the install crew worked hard and late!) I made the bad decision to flee. By making this one bad decision, I managed to make a minor incident into a large disaster on my record. They were not happy and I was arrested the next day. I never laid a hand on anyone (nor even exited the car for that matter). I can provide police report for event and any other documents required. Will have expunged from my record in 3 years.

I decided to flee, I lost, and they threw the book at me.

Expunging is a word that is thrown around a lot by ex-felons, few ever actually have it done. It requires a lengthy legal process (one which I will actually par take in when the time comes.) I spoke with a very nice recruiter from US Xpress and she told me to write a letter of explanation for my felony which will then be reviewed by a board.

I hope I can express myself (make that "pray"!) to a degree that they will choose to give a good man a chance.
