If you have a lot of debt and no money, then this is not the right time for you to get involved in a lease purchase or to buy a truck. I would work as a company driver, pay down my debt and save your money. Make a plan on how to get out of debt and to save enough for a good down payment or to purchase a truck. Leasing from a carrier will only complicate your debt problems. If you only saved $100-200 week, you could have a good down payment or just pay cash for a decent truck. You could also set up a percentage to save toward your goal. I like the idea of putting a flat amount away out of each paycheck. Just think, if you could save $200/week for 2 years, you would have over $20,000 saved. That is enough to pay cash for a nice used truck. And the best part is that you would not have to worry about making truck payments. Having your equipment paid off and not having to worry about making truck payments can take a tremendous amount of pressure off of you. Some people get into such large payments that they have to run so hard to make the payments that they don't have much of a life. That is one problem with leasing a truck from a carrier. You must run constantly to make the payments.
Company driver, little money saved, should I go lease?

Business is all about leverage when you lease their truck, haul their freight, you have zero. They have all the power and you will lose everytime. So stay a company driver and find a company where you can make some money. Like a small private one where you are more appreciated and save and develope relationships with the right people.
Lease operations are scams and should be illegal in my opinion so stay awayGITRDUN45 Thanks this. -

Demand to see the lease, not the pamphlets and brochures, but the actual legal documents them selves. I am not yet even licensed and I have had one recruiter try to sell me on one. The more questions I asked, them more I was shocked by the one-sidedness, and the more irritated the tone of the recruiter became. The recruiter was also some what condescending to me, he implied, strongly, that I was being un grateful for the great favor he was extending me type attitude. You can read the details under a question I asked , I guess you can search for it under my user name mcubstead. The title is " How can this option possibly work?"

You are bucking the system, next thing you know everyone will want to read the lease.
You have to be a little more compliant, and ask where do you sign, wheres my truck, how much money will i make and tell them you would like to skip training and get right to it. JKWorldofTransportation Thanks this.
