    I don't know anything about the lease they offer, but I have hauled for them and have always gotten really good rates out of them. They are one of the better paying outfits.

    Right guys. That ( CRST ) was the one thing that made me nervous. I believe Im ready and my family is ready to take the big leap into L/O. Im just trying to go into it with as solid a company that is a good fit for us and EYES WIDE OPEN as I can make them. That's why I asked on here. Thanks. Talked to the specialized recruiter....so far....no "pie in the sky" promises just hard facts and numbers....I like that. hopefully Ill still feel that way about them next Spring !

    Their website for any body interested:

    Since they were aquired buy CRST I'd stay away. CRST has a terminal about 10 minutes from my house they always have lots and lots of empty trucks there. As matter fact I wouldn't walk away from CRST I'd run as fast as I my feet world take me. But hey thats just my 2 cents. Read all the CRST forums and judge for yourself.

    Good Luck at whatevery you decide to do.

    I too am interested in leasing with STI, I have gone over a lease info with CRST, and recently with STI (crst) and there are great differences in the structure of the lease agreement. I am considering a lease with STI

    CRST may own STI, Specialized Transportation Incorporated, however as a driver for STI, I see how STI tells CRST the way the drivers have always had it and what we expect from the company we drive for. In saying that, and being honest and loyal to you people as my brother drivers and being loyal to my contracting employer. It is my best quick answer to say, I am happy with STI. Now, I say that with a terrible taste in my mouth.

    The good;
    1: miles. I get all the miles I could want. In saying that if CRST floods STI with new drivers, I am cutting my own pay checks.However, the honesty thing. I am usually pre planned for several loads out. When my truck is running correctly. If you come to STI, you will get a used CRST truck. No exceptions, no matter what the recruiters say. I promise you if you come here and get something else you will still be in the shop for the beginning of your employment here. All of us have done it. Half of us have survived it.

    2:Trucks: Your truck will be decently equipped. A small refrigerator, a bunk, some double, most single. 90% Intertrashional prostar fleet, 10% Volvo's. Otherwise expect a VERY old Freightshaker with close to a million miles on it. The do not detail the trucks before you get it. You will be expected to clean it yourself as you run.

    3:Benefits: Almost none. This is your opportunity to begin your business. My suggestion is to join O.O.I.D.A. Before you come to STI. Get your benefits there.

    4: Drivers: STI is focused on having the best drivers. No shenannigans, no unsafe drivers, no immature drivers, no truck stop Cowboys. We work hard and we enjoy what we do. We play hard on our home time.

    The bad;

    1: Trucks: CRST has done almost no maintenance on them. Therefore, you seriously need to be ready to wait for your truck to be in the shop the day you get it. Get EVERYTHING repaired on it before you head out. Otherwise you are going to go in the hole quickly from your beginning. Like I said earlier, we all have done it. Half of us survived it.

    I hope one that helps. I do wish you the best.

    Sincerely,
    Chicken
