Truck Owners ANGRY and Scared Over Fuel Costs

you probably wouldn't belive it if someone could tell ya. But I have a feeling we are going to find out. Funny thing is around her in TX EVERYONE is still buying these huge pickups for no reason. I can't believe they can afford it. They still can't sell a small car on the lots here. You know in TX it is cheaper to register a F350 pickup then a car? A car is taxed as a luxery vehicle here or some crap. They all deserve what they get

since i have sat here, from saterday to now diesel prices at this little po-dunk truckstop ( term used very loosely) have gone up $.24/gal

now sitting at $3.89/gal.....in this is a major state for the production of freakin oil!!!!

 

Discussing this proposed strike with a friend whom is extrememly knowledgable in this industry, it was pointed out.


this would not take a large scale to accomplish really. picture this.

Shut down a couple hundred trucks nose to nose on pennsylvania ave and take a siesta on white house lawn. you will then have news coverage, and people over the nation listening as to why and what the demands are all about. thereby gaining notice, and bringing this issue to light. by getting the nation involved in the light of the nations freight, (lifeline to every household)

things could only get better from there.


today 200 trucks, in 2 weeks, 2200 trucks, after that, all the trucks.


think about it. low numbers, easy way to get attention, and very structured and up front pointed message.

now find two hundreds volunteers to go to washington dc and park a truck on the steps of the whitehouse. hang a banner the size of a 50 footer, and take a snooze. and see what happens.


honestly, if you shut down 6000 trucks on the highways of our nation no one will notice. you park 6-200 trucks on the whitehouse steps, there will be notice. there will be news choppers, there will be interviews, and a movement will begin.

throw in a couple flatbeds with a band and some coolers on board, and you got a good old fashioned tailgate picnic and microphones to boot. woodstock all over again.

i am serious about this however. thinking the picture in my mind brings a smile to my face. and in my search for adventure, thats ranks right about up to what i consider would be my greatest adventure. hell i would even risk jail time just to say someday i was a part of it.

but, unlike normal people, money really means nothing to me, i live modestly, all my life i have sought more fame than fortune. i would rather take a weeks wages and go fishing rather than put it on a mortgage.

i dont have to worry about my job, or my business. it will always be there. trucking is just how i go about finding a adventure each week. normally i just let hat truck sit in the driveway and collect rust.

ahhhhh ......... dreams of a whitehouse woodstock. and fame on tv. ( almost makes me want to have a beer.... dont forget the hotdogs.)

think about it. and f you decide you want to go the route, call me, i will tow up the big old iron pit bar B que and hire the band.

 

I'd go to jail for it. God knows I've gone for much less deserving causes!!

hi guys, i live in the uk and am looking to come over to america when i turn 21 to drive otr, in response to the 'how high can prices go' questions, diesel is stupidly high in the uk. diesel is about £1.10 a litre, there are roughly 3.8 litres in a us gallon meaning a gallon of diesel in the uk right now is £4.18 at todays exchange rate of roughly 2.02 thats $8.44 a gallon. and its been in the 1 pound a litre range for quite a while now. its not my intention to worry or panic anyone but merely to inform you of whats going on with prices elsewhere.

 

we will probably meet up with ya in fuel prce son a this rate. You also have to take into consideration the driving we do here is allot different then what you do. How many miles do you drive in a week, how kind of weight do you haul and what is your fuel mileage? what is the price of your equipment?

 

Oh, and most importantly what are your freight rates like?
