I tried to imigrate to Australia a few years back but they don't consider truck drivers as skilled labor for a work visa. Could have done it if I had a company to sponsor me but I never persued it that far.

I wouldn't even bother kid. I am 24 and just got into the owners seat, I realized I might as well stayed in the Army getting fondled by the Govt instead of getting poked in the arse by trucking.

The problems some would have with a strike is that some of us are treated well by our shippers. They pay us well and they treat us well. They are like our family. If we were to participate, they would look at us and say WTF? We have always treated you fairly and always paid your FSC, why would you do this to us?????
With that said, we are all about helping the industry but; the only way we can help the industry is for it to help itself. I know people get tired of hearing it but, you cannot haul cheap freight. The ones hurting the industry are the ones hauling cheap freight. Some are hauling cheap freight plus not getting a FSC. I know they are trying in desperation because they have been sitting and need to get on the road.......You can't give in. Someone said it earlier, most shippers are paying decent rates and even a decent FSC and some broker is sucking it up and not paying it. Matthews and others, you are correct in saying we need to stand together but we should not try mass punishment. Why punish the shippers and brokers that are paying a fair price????? Punish the one who are ripping us off......Do we really want the Govmt to tell shippers what they have to pay??????The flip side of that would be they could tell us the max we could charge...........
Someone else also said break down the hours you are working and look at what you are getting paid.......Is it a living wage?????Is it even minimum wage?????
I have also seen on here that shippers are suprised to hear what the truckers are getting because they are paying high shipers cost......Look professional and talk to these people, without whining when you are loading / unloading. Pass out bussiness cards, let them know you are available if they need you.
You might be suprised. Many shippers are using more brokers and carriers than just one. Treat them good and many will take care of you.
