Obviously not. There are (still) plenty of good jobs out there. But 99% of them seem to be in decline, even the ones that used to be very very good. Even the ones where guys had pensions and made six figures a year. Even those companies are in decline. The whole country is in decline, face it, stop blaming Obamacare or the Bush wars. Don't listen to the media, they are just trying to distract you from what's going on so you can vote for who they want. THE WHOLE COUNTRY IS IN DECLINE. And we are not doing anything about it.

Companies are here to make money not friends, they could care less about you.But if you do your job well without any complaining chances are you'll receive the miles. You could be the most pleasant person to get along with but if you can't perform your job to the companies standards you'll be put at the bottom for miles. Many companies here have a horrible reputation but then some drivers really like the company.
Dinomite Thanks this. -
I usually get a LOT of miles even when other drivers are complaining they aren't getting enough miles.
I keep my mouth shut, and I'm dependable (no lates, no accidents, no tickets, no getting lost, no acting helpless, no spamming dispatch with messages/calls, etc).
The only thing I really open my mouth on is safety (snow storm) or legally (not enough legal hours to deliver on time). Sometimes they'll make a smart remark like I'm the captain of my ship, then hang up on me cause they know I'm am right.
I try not to bother dispatch unless its important, that way when they get upset over legal/safe issue, they usually over look it cause they know generally I don't make problems for them.
Take the bad and the good, short runs and long runs. Do it with a smile.
If dispatch is acting like a jerk, no point trying to win an argument or insult contest, cause you'll only lose.
For the most part, this seems to work for me.
Professional Attitude and Perform to Company Standards is key to win. Otherwise you'll be on the list for low miles and bad runs.
