CDL Student with a bad conduct discharge. Any hope? My story with questions?????

    I'm not trying to lie about it. Just curious to know if my marijuana use that led to my bad conduct discharge 10 years ago will stop me from EVER finding employment with a good company. My court martial led to a federal misdemeanor which I believe will MOST def be seen during a background check. But IDK. Thanks for your response .

    @yessir Trucking is not interested "on" me huh? Bad conduct people "is not helping us"? Thanks for your response guy and good luck to you as well! I'm pretty sure you wont be the one making any administrative decisions.

    Skipping right to the bottom of this thread... I know a guy in my Unit that was discharged for failing a pee test..."smith". I know two drivers names McBee and Kennedy...you two on here..lol

    Im not trying to be rude or saying you are a bad person it was just mistake and none of us is perfect but there are some mistakes you simply can't do if you want to drive truck

    No, you were trying to be rude, that's obvious in your first comment. It doesn't matter thou, your entitled to whatever opinion you may have. Just saying...If a company is willing to waiver someone who has committed armed robbery 7 years ago(someone i spoke with). In my case, after 3 years in the corps, before my second tour of duty 10 years ago I popped on a UA for marijuana. That chapter has been closed for ten years and I will continue to live with my mistake in a quest for my second chance.

    PS I already drive a GMC sierra, that's a truck. Thanks again.

    I don't want anyone to get this former NCO wrong,,,if you screw up, you need to pay the piper but, once you pay the piper, that's it. That's how it is in the Military. There is a saying in the Army;"Screw up, move up",,,HOOAH!

    some amusing posts here. I'd be willing to bet most of the people posting the harsh responses smoked more than a bit themselves. The OP got caught, shouldn't make a difference if he's kept his nose clean for the last ten years. It sure wouldn't to me. Btw, 14 years active with three honorable. :)

    I agree with you Marko. Remember the late 60's to 1972; how many guys went to Canada? When the war ended they were "forgiven" but not there past. It stays on your record forever. Nobody will know 'till they start looking. If the employer is a combat vet, he will look. Fromm99 made a mistake, I know he regrets it, but a vet who still carries his wounds and scar's will not forgive.I have forgiven. I see; like right now, the non-combat wounds this man is carrying. These wounds will NEVER heal. I wish him luck, I really do. Mike

    You should regret it......It wasn't a mistake either , at 21 you knew better.......it was a choice....choices have consequences...sometimes life-long ones. You may find work...possibly , but for the most part IT PROBABLY WILL NOT BE WITH A 1ST-CLASS COMPANY. I wasn't gonna comment , but you said it yourself...the vet's need to tell you how "we" feel....this one has no pity for you...none at all.
