I know this is going to sound really dumb, but in inclement weather do the trainers still train new drivers? I'm slotted to go to Orientation in PA this Monday (pending final paperwork approval). Before anyone says anything, I know trucks roll 365 days a year through rain, sleet, and snow. I'm just referring to training for new drivers.
I guess what I'm asking is has a trainer, other than safety concerns, ever refused to let a new driver drive because the weather was too bad? When I trained for my Class B they never conducted training in less then stellar weather. I'm prepared either way.

yes we do train doing all weather conditions we just have to be smart and know when to shut it down and let dispatch know.

To answer your question, YES. PSD trainers are not supposed to let students drive in bad weather. Now that said, it may be nice road when the student gets behind the wheel, but the weather flips in 5 miles. Also depends on the trainee, some trainee'a have some experience in bad weather, while others don't have a clue. But personally I would never put a student behind the wheel knowing we were going into bad weather.
Hope this helps you -
