Actually, no, I hadn't noticed. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

-- If you are in an area that has a lot of work and different jobs, then you have room to make choices. If you live in a rural area where there isn't a lot of work or choices, you have to take what you can get until a better job is available. Don't belittle the driver that is in a bad situation. The company knows that work is scarce so they push you to run illegal because they know your choices are few and they are still making money "Hand over Fist"! I know...I am in the same boat!!Last edited by a moderator: Jan 5, 2014

No one can be forced to drive illegally. Maybe thay can if someone sits beside them with a gun to their head or takes a family member hostage. Drivers posting on here or filing lawsuits against the company they work for saying they are forced to drive illegally or drive with equipment that's not roadworthy are using very poor judgement. They have the choice of doing something illegal or changing jobs, but they choose to stick around and whine. Every driver is in a hiring area for some legal company and shouldn't risk being sued & losing their CDL then putting hardship on their family.

Maybe you didn't read the whole post, "when jobs are scarce, you have to take whats available". Not everyone works in an area where there are 2 million people and 3 million jobs!
Within a radius of 150 miles there are 25,000 people and only 2000 jobs where I live and not all are in the trucking industry. Most of them are in the gas and oil fields.
Don't belittle someone because they want something more then what they have. I want more and am looking for better then what I have! There's nothing wrong with talking about your complaints in forums such as this. Its better then talking about them at work where you can be fired for suggesting there is something not right about your work place.
I do not want to move into an overpopulated area where everyone is stepping on someone else to get ahead, been there done that!
I am however, an experienced truck driver of 15 yrs. I have no speeding tickets and no accidents. I don't use drugs and seldom drink. I have hauled in the SE and the Rocky Mtns. I have been working in the gas and oilfields for the past 8 yrs and want a change of pace. I don't know if you have worked (driven) for the oil fields or what your position might be but the gas and oil fields have their own rules and way of doing things that would make others cringe!
Companies are only looking for one thing...more money and they don't give a hoot about how they get it, stepping on the employee is normal for them. I am sure you have heard the saying "The rich get richer and the poor get poorer", companies stay on top by feeding on their employees, those they believe are beneath them.Chinatown Thanks this. -
864-Old'n'Slow : Wasn't my intent to belittle you at all. Seems like we posted at the exact same time. Truthfully, I wouldn't want your job; not sure I could handle it or even want the challenge. I was raised in the country in TN & got tired of it and the responsibilities of taking care of a home in the sticks. Prefer the gated communities where I can isolate myself and family without being too far from anything else we might be interested in. But, that's me and I know that lifestyle isn't for everyone. Best wishes to you.
Edit : My younger daughters dream is to live in the wide open spaces of WY.
