Made it as far as Jasper FL last night... ye olde fuel stop, before fallin' outta da tree. So because we have morons picking up wrong trailers and driving the wrong direction for hundreds o' miles a number of years back... we're back to doing check calls, aka live loaded calls...

    Last night...

Me: "Am I good to go??
Live Load Dude: "Oh s%#^... looks like your trailer is unsafe. You're gonna have to get it on another trailer... let me check!"
Me: "OK" (to self... you've got to be effin' s#$^in' me!!!)
LLD: "Hold tight, I'll call ya back..."
    Me: "Sure ya will..."

(about 20 minutes of this stuff)
    Time to shake the tree...

QC to Road Assist Guy... "What's wrong with trailer so 'n so?"
RAG... "I'm checking. Don't see anything here. Need to check with someone else."

    (A couple later...)

RAG... "Do you see anything wrong?"
Me... "Nope... you would have been the first to know!"
    RAG... "Anything obvious?"
Me... "A couple of dings on the frame from the usual idiots... no broken crossmembers. Brakes are fine. Someone did change the right rear tire recently..."
    RAG... "Is the reefer OK?"
    Me... "Running fine, passed pretrip."
RAG... "OK... let me find one more person."
Me... "OK." (to self... GREAT! Another idiot!!)

    (About 20 ticks pass)
I've had enough of this... call dispatch. This is the third person I've dealt with...

Me... "What's the story on this trailer?"
    Dispatch... "Dunno... what's wrong?"
Me... "Live loaded guy said it's out of service..."
    (Short pause...)
Dispatch... "I don't see anything... did you call RA?"
Me... "Yeah, they couldn't find anything."
Dispatch... "OK, yer good to roll."

    SIGH!!!

You've got to be kidding me?? Never did hear back from the first two. This was all nearly 12 hours ago. Ain't nuthin' wrong with the trailer... other than it isn't where it needs to be... yet. You can't make this stuff up!

...and now for the really sad... how many would be sitting down there at the shipper still waiting for idiot no. 1 to call him back?

    DOUBLE SIGH!!!

    Wat.

Is it hard to resist the urge to drop the trailer at the edge of their property?

"Market Fee..." uncommon, but put it on your trip report and you'll be reimbursed.

Try that once, and you'll be asking Swift for a job.

...TA Nashville. Hanging until 4PM so I can arrive at my 90 without my 14 expiring.

Not uncommon if you ever been to a "Produce Market". Every big city produce market I've been to has had a gate fee. Chelsea in Boston, Hunts Point in NY, Philly, Baltimore. Haven't been to St Louis.

they all seem to be the same setup. Block long wharehouses with long open air docks with maybe a dozen different produce businesses dividing up the spaces on each block. I've never delivered to the same business twice. They sell their stuff to restraunts and mom and pop grocers in the city. Goes out in smaller trucks.

gate guards don't care where you go as long as the fee gets paid. Yes, it does get reimbursed.

Yes, the Chelsea Markets in Boston are a pain to get to.
