New to Prime INC - What to expect (Springfield edition)

Trucks are nice...Freightliner, Peterbuilt, kenworth. Peterbuilts hsve pretty good size sleeper. I think kenworth has the biggest tho

 

Company team... you'll get a condo; what they have is what you'll get. Lease side, the way they're listed is price cheapest to most expensive. Also most reliable to major garage queens.

Thanks, What is a condo...lol. means it has the higher profile? Freightliner has cascadia, International has prostar, which does kenworth and peterbuilt have that prime uses. What trucks are most often "garage Queens" ? dont want one of those.

Condo has to Bunks and full cabinets in it, plus windows for the top bunk, its also a Freightliner. Like IP said, if you are a company team, you will get whats available, more than likely will be a Freight liner Condo, about a 50% chance it will be a used truck with some miles to burn on it before they sell it off. As you are inexpereinced in the industry, I HOPE YOU ARE NOT THINKING ABOUT LEASING, go company for a year or 2, learn the ropes, make sure the lifestyle fits for you BOTH, save up a bunch of money then BUY a truck LOL.

IDK Highway... I've made a bunch of money at Prime on the lease side. It's a matter of how efficiently you operate the truck.

OTOH... buying a junked out old truck, can be asking for even more trouble. Especially if you don't have a clue about what you're doing.

 

Thankyou, and that is Great advice. I have read several forums, and that seems to be by far the best advice, to wait a couple years. We will certainly follow it. There are some videos on youtube how some have the sleeper set up. Seems like can do ok. We are excited at opportunity to see whole country.

Yeah, I know IP but putting a rookie in a lease truck is asking for trouble as you well know, we have both seen it. So if you can afford it why not just buy the truck, Prime has some pretty good trucks for sale, and we both know they generally take pretty good care of them, so if you can afford it, why not just buy a truck and lease on to Prime. Like you are doing if I am thinking correctly.

OTH, a husband and wife teaming and leasing can make some pretty decent money also.
I always figured its better to buy than to lease anyway.

If you can generate the revenue to cover the costs it's not a bad way to go. The warranty on the Freightliners is awesome. Hardly paid anything to keep mine running the first three years. There's more money to be made owning... if you have a clue. And that's the deal. It can be just as risky for an untutored newb either way.

 

We intend on getting some experience in trucking, driving, and learn all we can before buying-leasing. Will wait at least a year. I can see how owning a truck can have many benefits, but starting out running a company truck seems like the way to go. Our plan is for me to go through school and training phase, get truck and her ride along for a month or two. She can then decide to commit to teams. If she wants teams, then she goes through school. etc.. She has basically committed so far, but will be her last chance to back out. We have been married 22 years, and get along well together even when on road in a car for weeks on end.
