Ok thanks sad to say the school I'm at only show us how to properly curb back once and this is my third week of training, and I'm taking my test at the dmv the second week in January, I'm just trying to make the best out of this even though I feel I'm not getting the right training, thanks any ways

Some/much of your education has to come from observing others, and their successes and failures. You students should be helping each other. You know where the rig is supposed to stop, and from where it starts, and basic backing principles. That's really all you need. Don't get discouraged, backing is one of those things that take practice, but literally millions of drivers have learned it. You can, too, and you''ll be surprised how hard it isn't if you don't allow yourself to get emotional and keep a clear head and DON'T GIVE UP! Your expectations of progress are most likely too great.

Pre trip inspection is given before any driving or backing is done. The left hand curb has a cone spaced 20 feet apart from each other with a total of 4 cones. It is the second part of the test., the straight line backup is first

I'm pretty good with my pre trip, plus my instructor says I'm one of the better drivers in this class, my only worries is this curb back I mean some days I get it and some days it's like I don't know what I'm doing.. If I can pass this curb back test at the dmv I'm pretty sure I will get my cdl because this is my only weak point!! Thanks

I'm assuming by now you've done a LOT more curve backing, I'm taking my (2nd) test tomorrow in Chester. I killed my self on the curve back, which is BS because I've sucessfully done it about 3 million times prior to the actual test. Maybe it was nerves, I don't know. Good Luck man!

Also: don't get worked up about the pre-trip, I did and it was EASY!!!! They wind up letting you skip have the truck if you don't miss anything!

Backing is one of them things that take some forever to get (some seem to never get it) and others pick it up fairly quickly but they may lack in other places... Trust me once you can get past the DMV test you will backup further in a truck than you ever drove forward in a 4-wheeler lol. you will learn from trainers at the company you choose and from teaching yourself "not to do that again" try to remain calm and follow it out in steps even if it takes you 10 mins to actual preform it. Let us know how it works out for you.. Best of Luck!

I'm getting better on my curve backing and now I'm to the point of coming 3feet of every cone. I'm testing next week.. I wish you luck on your test and could you give me a lil info on how the test site is set up at the dmv? And how far apart are the cones set? I know I'm ready to test just a lil nervous because this is a test !!
