Hi im from michigan and im an o/o steel hauler. ive had my cdl 6 years been hauling steel up to 160,000 lbs for almost 4 years. i haul steel coils, aluminum and steel ingots, T-bars, castings, etc. and im familiar with securing heavy loads.
the money isnt what it used to be and im tired of the weather so ive been thinking of putting the house and truck up for sale and looking for better opportunity someplace else as a company driver in the oilfields. as an o/o im already used to 70-90+ hr pr week and rough weather doesnt bother me. i have a clean driving and criminal record.
with my experience and skill set what kind of job prospect can i expect and where would i be most in demand?

this is gonna be a big move in my life and any and all info will be very much appreciated.

Not necessarily. There is coil tubing companies that use heavy haul drivers to haul their reels to and from locations and to and from the manufacturer

I would say depending on the company it could be rather easy yet good money. If nothing else u could cross train and learn other equipment as well. Checkout rigzone.com or on Facebook go to oilfield families of America and they have a job page

    wilfredbacon15 Thanks this.

I have heavy haul experience and worked for a rig moving company in Odessa. I averaged 80 to 90 hours a week, and after taxes could make up to $2500 a week. My average was about $1900 a week after taxes. The company I worked for had two of there own cranes so I hauled the cranes occasionally also. If I could have convinced my wife to move out there I would probably still be out there
