If you live in Mich you could check out Jack Cooper in Flint. They were hiring 2-3 weeks ago. They are union, same as Cassens, what else do you need to know.

This isn't meant to be rude towards you BUT you are thinking of going elsewhere it is going to be a whole new game for you from running that 8 pack you are running at PMTG. I'm not saying you won't be able to learn it etc but just keep that in mind when you think about moving on possibly. I say this to you guessing that you are still running the 8 pack you posted in the other thread. If you are in one of their newer open 10 cars then forget all what I said.

I dont know what is wrong with united road..Im just saying that everyone leaves there to come to cassens or cooper..Just a observation I have no opinion on united road other than they are non union and I am pro union

Here is what it boils down to...What are you looking for to get out of said company. I have been leased to URS for 10 years now. Yes I get upset with them and also have plenty of good as well. I make decent money as a O/O with them. I know there is company drivers that 90k a year and there is drivers that make 60k a year. It depends on how much you work, how often you go home etc. Another person posted they have a terminal in Romulus MI. Well not so much on that. That is where the main office is and yes they have some work in MI but not like they have in say OH IL MD and other states.
I read your other forum and from what I have read where you are money wise for the year you could possibly do better with other companies and then again maybe not. Loading time and other things play into what you can make if you are running shorter freight. I personally try to run longer stuff myself (400 miles or more) Basically what works for some doesn't always work for others. -

To Why Drive Truck.
Comparing one of the union carhaul companies (Cassens / Jack Cooper) to the non-union (URS and the rest) is comparing apples to oranges. The only thing they have in common is they move vehicles. I am not saying one is better than the other. It boils down to what is best for you. As a driver for a union carhaul co. it is all seniority driven. You hire on, train, once you run a revenue load you start the 30 day clock. In those 30 days they can terminate at will. After 30, you are a full fledged Teamster. You pay your initiation fee to Mr. Hoffa et al, and they now deduct your monthly dues from your paycheck. Each Terminal has their own local rules, however it all falls under the IBT Master Agreement. You cannot waltz in there and expect the gravy work. It will be grabbed up by the senior drivers. I am not saying you will not get good loads, however the less desirable work tends to fall to the bottom of the board. Depending on which terminal you work out of there is different types of hauls. Work a Railhead and the work is generally regional with most being local. Work an assembly plant and the hauls spread out more. 500 - 1000 miles maybe. The longer traffic goes on railcars. The equipment is bid by seniority. The new(er) better trucks get grabbed up by the senior drivers. What you will find are most of the drivers are hard working people that care about what they do and doing their work. And you will find, depending on the terminal and attitude of the union steward, about 10% of the drivers are there just to stir up crap. They feed off each other and generally are mediocre carhaulers at best, they depend on hiding behind the union to keep their job. Maybe another can enlighten you on the other companies.
