I finally said heck with it,lol. Many drivers have asked me,why are you so stuck up.They now know I just don't wave or talk to them much for that matter.Me being the only female I have nothing in common with any of them.

After 33 years looking out of a windshield I still have never seen another job anywhere that I would rather do .

I have yet to find one of the evil DOT or cop of any kind .
I have met more than a few that did their job in a professional manner.

Back in my outlaw days I got a few tickets I deserved and didn't get allot I did deserve .

I am getting to where I don't trust the guy in the next truck as much as the four wheelers any more .
I never thought that would ever happen !!!

It does make me happy to run into a newbee that loves trucking though I don't see it as much as I would like to.
But I have learned to accept that trucking has become full of bitter hateful miserable uncaring people.

The main reason that I don't spend time around truckers is that they all want to complain and whine about how much trucking sucks!!!
I have said it before and I will say it again I LOVE MY JOB LOL .
I know that makes me a freak but I have loved it from the first day I fired up the old 72 Brockway with that 1674 cat in her ! Hell it still brings a smile to my face to fire up my 97 Marmon and listen to that 3406E smooth out and just purr .

I even love working on her when she needs it . I have found that service jobs were easier at 23 than they are at 53 but I still talk to her while I take care of her so she will take care of me when we hit the road for our next adventure together .

See I told I was not your regular truck driver LOL!!!
I could write a book about the things I like about trucking and how it has let me earn a good living for my whole adult life .
Not every day is sunshine and rainbows but then neither is any job in life that I have heard about .

For those of you that hate trucking I hope you find what you are looking for and leave this life for those few of us that love it .
I for one will not miss you or your hatred of a life that has been good to me and my family.

I guess my wife is right I am getting to be a sappy old man ( by the way the first and only wife 33 years on her too ) .
OK I am done babbling on for now .

Merry Christmas and happy new years to all .

I still wave to a lot of drivers out there when I pass. Seems like swift, Werner and JB never wave back though...I guess they think I'm just a stuck up jerkwad cow hauler. Idk y though? I can't decide weather its the fact that I've only got one finger up when I wave at them or weather they just can't see me because I blew by them so fast. Bwahahahaha. No I usually don't give drivers the finger but a couple swiftys and Werner drivers have got the finger for showing their lack of courtesy. Figure they know they have my vote for driver of the year haha.

I wave to just about everybody yea my arm gets tired after a while but its something I enjoy doing. When they don't wave back its not a huge deal. Just happens maybe they're having a bad day or just don't like waving or maybe they just got the finger from another stuck up arrogant cow hauler lol. Couldn't say one way or the other. Its like talking on the radio with a good driver for a few 100 miles, or hollering at a driver that's got a good looking ride. Its just something I like to do. Makes a man/woman feel pretty good when they get compliments on their rig.

Sometime when your home for a couple of days. Take a drive to your local nursing home and visit some of the residents their. They enjoy listening to stories and telling some of their own. That's a good way to not only lift your own spirits. But enjoy putting a smile on their face. I guarantee days of being frustrated and down an out will become far and few between.

Hey Marmon-That was a good post. I would not add anything. You seem to feel about your truck like I do to my '03 379 "Miss Sarah". I put over 1 Mill since I had her, and always brought me home safe from every driving mission. What is your trucks name? Please tell me you have one. Mike

I thought the point of this thread was to be positive.

Anyway, since you alluded to evolution, it hasn't stood in the way of fighter pilots who travel at much faster speeds than truck drivers. I have no idea what fighter pilots listen to while flying, but I do know that they have two-way communications. I think this is a point much better suited to a different thread. Perhaps you could start one to discuss the pros and cons of audio books while driving.

I couldn't agree more, I love driving a truck for living. Its the only thing I'm really passionate about!!! I mean sure there are things I don't like about this job at times, But I'm not going to let that keep me from loving what I do for a living. I don't care what line of work your in or how much money u make, there's going to be things u don't like that come with that line of work.

I took a big chance 8+ years ago... I had a good local job driving tri axles making good money for a kid in his early 20's. But I always wonder if OTR could be my thing. Its all I thought and talk about. I always loved everything about trucks since I was a little kid and knew I wanted to drive a truck. I use to get on the cb any chance I could and talk to OTR guys trying to found out whatever I could... wondering is that life style for me... Knowing in my mind it was!!! I knew I would never really know what its like unless I tried it for myself!!! 8+ years later and here I am... Boy am I glad I took that chance. I couldn't see myself doing anything else for a living.

I guess its nice to hear that other guys do love this job, I was starting to think everybody hates there jobs... I mean I know there are guys out there passionate about driving trucks, I've talk to them that love the life style and it just fits them... This site is really cool, but so much of it is negative and bad... There a few on here that are positive and love the job for the most part, and we know who they are... I guess we just always hear the bad with everything... Just watch the news!!! I know this sounds corny, but its the truth for ME.... A bad day in my truck is still better than a good day in any other line of work!!!
