Living in Montana as a OTR Truck Driver Good or Bad Idea?

Swift here. Yeah, yeah, yeah I've already heard "those" comments. When I want to go fly fishing in Montana I put in for home time at the zip code I want to go and always get there easily. I've fished a bunch of great spots all over the state. Swift also has drop yards at a lot of the Town Pump truck stops so I haven't had a problem getting loads there and back out.

 

Whatever company or place you go with remember hometime is wherever you request not necessarily where your home address is. My home terminal is Laredo TX and my address is San Antonio but my hometime is all over the country depending on whether it's family, fishing or cards. Or where that gal that does that thing lives. ..

 

There are nine states with no personal income tax, if you want to factor that in to the equation.

 

Why not north Dakota. Bismarck and work the oil field?

Spring was on a Tuesday this year and fall on a Thursday, otherwise it is either summer or winter driving. More winter than summer.

 

I can tell you many transplants love Montana, for a while. It's kinda like OTR driving; it appeals to many, but fits few for very long.

By "no diversity" you mean too many White people? There is a plethora of "diverse" places in the US he can move to if that's his thing. Like Chicago for example.

What do you prefer cold, mild, or warm weather? Those states are very different from each other. You're sort of comparing apples to oranges here. When you say "time with Uncle Sam" does that mean when you get out of prison?
