Living in Montana as a OTR Truck Driver Good or Bad Idea?

Where do you live now? Where are you from.

 

I love WV. Beautiful beautiful state. Lot of people don't give WV credit for how beautiful the state really is. Don't like Texas much though. It's a Cowboys thing. Lol. If you're gonna move, maybe Arizona is the place for you. Montana is a different animal. I now live in Coeur d'Alene, only 60 miles from the Montana line. It's beautiful there too, but living up there, jobs are a little harder to come by and as I said earlier, winter can be a bit challenging. There's a lot in Arizona, and you don't have the extreme snowstorms like you do in Montana! Nothing like having to find your driveway because of snow. Lol. Montana is very expensive to live in as well. Taxes are high, and jobs pay little. But the air is clean (except for around Billings, there's a huge refinery there) and good decent people love there. You have a few of the ones to worry about, the Unabomber types, lol, but I do love Montana.

CDA winters are cake, as long as you stay in the CDA area and don't venture too far east north or south, then it gets heavier. Of course, the CDA area used to be easier to get around in, even when we used to get real winters, due to the influx of Californians plugging everything up, but that's for another thread.

Anyhow, what you said is true; the Inland Northwest is definitely a different animal.

 

High tax rate??? There is no sales tax, really low property tax rates and low income tax. Great state.to live in and base out of.

 

Heck that's pretty much the whole NW now, I grew up in Oregon back when it was still a red state, it got Kalifornicated in the '70's.
