Truck driving is technically "unskilled labor", and most of the time that's accurate if you measure "driving" as the vast majority of people do, by the 2 absolute lowest standards consisting of not crashing or getting a ticket. Actual "driving" skills are virtually completely unknown in the US. Nobody cares, as long as they don't crash or get a ticket, and can rationalize that their crash is the fault of the other guy, and their ticket is the fault of the cop, or the law.

JermTheGiant - thanks for this forum. It has allowed me to get a sense of what it is like for the first few days at Prime. I appreciate it. I hope the rest of your training is going splendid!

How 'bout you Giant?
Hope you get a chance to post again before rolling out. Should be soon now, if you aren't out already.
Best to you. Hope it goes as well for you as it's going for me. -
When I went through PSD we were told not to go to the millennium building. On thursday 3 guys showed up late to roll call and when asked why they were late they admitted to being at the Millennium building. They weren't at the next roll call.
-
We were told to not eat at the Millennium, because doing so would make you late for class, as those 3 guys found out. There was no issue in going there for dinner.
Well, we were told at the first class (pre-physical) that we couldn't go there until after we get our badges. The implication was that it was our plastic badges, not the paper ones.

I was crawling through the town on the first sim, doing like 10 MPH. Passed a U-Haul truck parked on the other side of the road, saw a kid running in the yard. Hit the brakes just in time to have him run out on the road and into my drives. Rather interesting sound effect when they do that.
I almost fell out of the seat when I saw the bobtail Swift pass me with a car stuck under it.
Also, Wally has a penchant to play chicken with the police car. If it's running through yards at 70 MPH, you can bet one of the guys is manually driving it.
Don't sweat making mistakes on the simulator; that's what it's for. I was one of the few in my class that noticed the 12'6" underpass and didn't make my truck a convertible. -
Yep, they do that, glad to hear you're having some fun with it .
