    Ha! Only in Saskatoon!

Ok, I know it's not really funny, but I used to live there, and this is exactly the kind of story I've come to expect. :>

I'm baffled here. If the trailer became disconnected. Without air, Wouldn't the bakes lock up on the trailer?

Not if the springs were cranked off, or whatever the terminology - the spring brakes can be disengaged, basically, though it's very unadvisable to do so, for precisely this reason. But if the membrane's broken and the air pressure isn't keeping the spring compressed, it could be necessary as a very short stopgap measure (ie. doing it long enough to get the trailer to the yard for service).

Well, I would think that depending on how fast he was traveling, when the trailer came off and the spring brakes locked up, it's going to skid for a bit. I mean, if you're traveling say 40 mph and your trailer came off, the springs would lock up, the wheels would skid, and therefor the trailer would skid till it slowed down and stopped.
