Hopefully you will get one with the Eaton transmission. They are a little better than the earlier models with the Spicer. They are more comfortable to live in than the older ones.

I'm thrilled for you, RD! You've been driving one of these old noisy/clanky/... Internationals for nearly 1.5 years. You've earned your upgrade to a much refined and definately more comfortable and better driving truck! I know many drivers greatly dislike the Pro Star due to problems they've had... Hopefully with your late model, the annoying bugs have been worked out. Congratulations!

Hope things are going good for you Twicebit. Keep us updated when you can. Merry Christmas. -
In response to your inquiry, RD, I'd like to give an idea of what its like for a recently released (from training) entry level driver. As far as my understanding goes, the Pasadena Texas Terminal is different from Superior's other Terminals in that newly released drivers in my situation are kept close to the terminal for at least a few months up to a year. I was told this is because if something were to happen, my terminal wants me close enough so that they're able to reach out and touch me. I'd prefer a little less touch, but I understand what they're driving at. I've been solo for 5 weeks and its been very good! They certainly have kept me busy! Before this 4 day Christmas break, I worked 9 days in a row both locally and regionally. The furthest away from the terminal I've been is 220 miles down to Kenedy TX. I've done this pre-load numerous times now. I'm going to a wide variety of chemical plants in the Houston area. What a tremendous way to gain experience! I've been told that once snow clears out of the nation, that ill be released into the system (my desire). I look forward to that within just a few months!
Again, thank you to each driver who has encouraged me along the way. This includes ethos, who really wanted me to go with Schneider Bulk. Even though I chose Superior, I still really appreciated the efforts and advice he gave me. God has led me onto the Superior path and I'm very grateful to be here! Pasadena is a great Terminal, by the way! I really enjoy working with Ken, Avery, my Dispatcher: Bruce, and the office staff including Michelle! I've met so many helpful Superior drivers both here on TR incl Mark and Rob, as well as at the Terminal. Guys like Paul, Roy, Eric, Wayne and others from Pasadena have helped me along. Also drivers from other terminals who have passed through Pasadena have been enjoyable to meet and talk with. Thank you all for your encouragement and help! In this healthy trucking environment, I am able to grow and refine my skills.

When dedicated slowed down and I have been running system, that has been a new adjustment. It has been quite nerve wracking at times finding some of these places and some of the backing required to get loaded or unloaded. It is amazing though how quick my confidence has built up running system. I am not as wigged out as I was at first just a couple months ago. Starting to enjoy it now.
Don't worry, twicebit, you will be out there before you know it. Then the fun begins! lol
Good to hear everything is going well for you. Your working for a good company. Keep on trucking!Twicebit Thanks this. -
You know you are bored when you keep logging on to TTR every five minutes....
-
Well, no longer bored. Trip planning for Salt Lake City, Utah. Nice run to start the year off with.

How are you planning to go? Hope you catch the weather right. I-80 is beautiful.
Last time I went across there in winter the road got shut down twice. Not much you can do but collect some layover pay. They plow snow pretty well but be careful in Wyoming. They don't use salt. The sand gives you traction but doesn't melt things as fast. That is the only time I found myself driving on ice after a road closure. -
That may be too much jumping around. I don't know. Never been out that far in a truck. I think I took that way several years ago when I went to see my mom in Reno. I could take 57 on up to 74 then to 80. I might do that. Seems less confusing.
Suggestions are welcome
