What warehouse are the trucks based out of? If the east end one then easy commute. If out in Acheson then a much longer commute each day.

I actually really enjoyed GHS. We had 24 students and all passed and seemed like a decent bunch of folks. We even had 2 females. I think I would have preferred 2 weeks and had it stretch out a bit more with some extra hands on work like chaining up etc. My days off just happened to fall on the holidays so I have been away from work since Dec 23 and back at er on Jan 2. That's when the training will begin!
Hope everyone had a super Christmas...sadly I could not get home and have to spend all this time in a hotel but it could be a lot worse.
Cheers -
I work for the division of Sysco that delivers to Tim Hortons, Wendy's, Subway's etc...I believe GFS handles most of those contracts out west and if I went that route with the delivering food I'd like to stick with some of the products I'm familiar with. To be honest with you I'd like to get out of the hand bombing work. I'm 28 and already feel like my back is giving me ####. I'd do it short term until I get on my feet, however my initial goal within my first year out there would be to find something 25-30$ hour 5 days a week, home every night.

KW9 is one of the most competent drivers out there.kw9's rock Thanks this.
-
Check out his own pictures on this site(plus I put 'jj' and lol) But the real Competent Truck driver drives around in South America(over those mountains and narrow roads) Or That guy in the middle of nowhere in China or Russia(where they do there repairs their selves ) think about that one.

You have to remember that they are dealing with a vast range of skill levels, backgrounds, and people going into different service areas.
Has to be generic/entry level. Always gonna be a tough gig trying to get everyone up to the same level. What can you teach a dude who hasn't ever seen tire chains or driven off road in winter or used a radio, in a couple days? Just the basics, but it's better than nothing. GHS will only teach you about 1% of what you need to know and won't even get you ready for the front line.
Hope everyone got some downtime this festive season, and home/family time. Wishing you all a premature but sincere Happy New Year.
May 2014 bring you safe travels, career opportunities, good $$$, and the company of fine oil patch brethren.
The days are longer, the nights are getting shorter now. Not long til spring and MUD SEASON lol.freedom4me and rainyday lover Thank this. -
I don't know about anyone else but I'm fairly certain I will much prefer the mud over the snow and cold.

Snow and mud = clean. Chain up is relatively easy. Cold, I can withstand
Mud and wet is just foul.
My 2c -
I'm not a cold person (maybe due to my age...lol) Bring on the spring mud!!!
