I know what you mean, with out getting too much in to politics i'd like to share a story about my mom and this broken system we have here. She was involved in an accident last year in april and became disabled for life (two back surgeries, shoulder surgery and lost her spleen) and when she applied for medicare she was denied because my dad is ''making'' too much money ($18 an hour :biggrin_2554:) Starting next year she has to pay $760 a month until april which will be 2 years on disability and she will be eligible for medicare...

I'd like to apologize to the OP for hijacking his thread

Yes some of us have ins...... been on my own a long time. No ins thru wife or any of that .

$1250 a month for a single plan. Tks blue cross . We should just stop beating around the bush and go to single payer.

Single payer will cost you more than what your paying now.

Going back to the op's point of not many drivers have insurance. I just wonder if truckers being independent type people. If most of them just figure they'll take care of themselves. Whatever happens they'll make it regardless.

At the risk of being political.

Look at the over all benefits that the truck driver gets.

Some of the companies pay good. Many of the LTL guys make good money and work 5 days a week and be home at night. They have some good benefits as well.

The OTR guys may work more and be gone all of the time and not have any benefits.

One must look at the companies to see.

I have not heard much about the insurance at the megas. I wonder about that.

Interesting, but I wonder if it will satisfy a hospital say many miles away in an emergency situation?

Before signing on to something like medishare, those would be the kind of questions to ask. That's a good question. I'll have to read up on it somemore.
