Couple of days ago, this very same thing happened in NYC. Truck ran over an 8-year-old. Driver (last I heard) reportedly had either a suspended or just no operators license. But the child was apparently also not fully paying attention.

Part of the problem driving in urban environments is sensory overload. There is a LOT going on that you need to pay attention to, from cars all around you, parked vehicles, road signs, advertising signs, pedestrians, etc. etc. etc.

During a turn you have multiple things that you need to pay attention to as well and primary concern especially on tight streets is trying to avoid hitting cars or pedestrians while making the turn. Let's face it, cities aren't designed for 53' trailers. There's a lot of things working against us in cities.

Slow down, pay attention, and be VERY patient with pedestrians and motorists.

That's not the Nashville truck in the OP. The truck I saw on the news was a new KW sleeper with a CEVA trailer. That looks like a 25 year old White Road Boss!
