If I could get to it, id be beating someone else's head against it... but a stupid 5ft chainlink fence and a padlock have seperated me from the loaded trailer since Saturday morning... they brought it over from Mexico late friday night 6 or 7 and just locked up after that until monday..

My experience is that Steel Coils take the longest to load and unload. But it all depends on where you are loading and delivering. I sat at US Steel in Gary for 6 hours waiting to load, then another 4 hours at Ford plant in Detroit to unload.

What takes the longest to load?
Any load where an inexperienced or idiot forklift driver is doing the loading.
I had one the other day that would not listen to my directions, he listened to his supervisor who was guiding him blind and he dumped a die off the side, taking the punch and chains with it. Not only ruining them but also causing some serious damage to the truck next to me.
Another one couldn't figure out how to put a pallet on the bed of the truck, he maneuvered and then changed his position again and again until I told him either put it on there or get someone else to do it. I had twelve pallets to go and this was the first. -
Tube, drilling pipe, and coils top my list. something about round stuff.

Yes that place in Assumption, IL was the place I was thinking about. Took them almost 7 hours to load me and then thought I'd have it secured and tarped in about 15 minutes... Boy were they disappointed...

I've been to Eau Claire a few times and the fastest I've ever gotten out of there is about 8 hours. And it always seems to rain when I'm there. I've run out of time everytime I go there and I always park out in front of where you get your paperwork. And yes I've stopped at that same little truckstop, if u want to call it that.

i've been to that plant in mesa, az. where i've picked up T posts. never spent more then 90 minutes. but i've heard from the others about the trucks that are always sitting down below. been there since morning. and still sitting at dinner time. for rebar loads.

If you got a few minutes left, there is a decent sized kwik trip at exit 45.

I have been to the Menards in Eau Claire. That place is a 12 ring circus. Load in one building, go to next building where you wait till they are done playing cards or whatever, then they take off everything that was just loaded and reload the trailer. Got to next building and repeat the process. Never again. Longest actual loading job? Railroad scrap. They had to build a box on the trailer first, then load it all with a magnet on a boom truck. Cant pull the straps to tight or you smash the shiny new side kit you just got. Get to the drop off point and you have to wait in line to try to squeeze your truck in to their undersized yard. Pray to whom ever is listening that their boom truck with magnet is working that day and that they dont have to unload by hand. Then back your way 1/4 mile out of their yard, cause the even the forklifts have a hard time turning around in there.

Heaven help you if you go into Menards low on fuel, those fools will get you to 79,9K and still be looking to add a bundle somewhere. And your right, it is a circus!
