One thing is if you stay out 18 days that gets you 4 days off. Also you don't have to go home. You can stay out as long as you want. You also don't have to take all the days off. If, say, you earned 5 days off by staying out 24-29 days, you can take only 3 off if you want. You can't bank days off though. If you don't take what's coming they are gone.

 

I've had my TWIC card for a few years as I had originally planned on working the ore boats (Still might). I'll be applying for an enhanced CDL through Michigan...will that eliminate the need for the passport?

 

According to the DMV website an enhanced CDL Acts as both a license and a passport to Canada and Mexico by land or sea. Not sure what the cost will be.

 

It's a lot cheaper than a traditional passport. $35 for a standard enhanced license...add cdl fee to that and I think maybe $45 total.

 

I should be in Gary for FB orientation on the 6th.

 

I will be flying to Gary tomorrow. I start orientation on the 30th. Not sure how many people in the class.
