    Hello all,
Love this forum. Very informative. Looking to make a career change after 30 years in the printing industry.

Asking for info from Knight drivers. Do trucks come with a mini fridge? How are trucks set up for power?

Most importantly. Do you like your job? Do you get enough miles? Ever had any problem getting paid? I will be training and driving out of Phoenix.

Thanks in advance for your input.

viking i did work for Knight. they do not come with fridges/invertes/micorwaves or APU's. Volvo with the D13(never derove one) International with eihter the MAXXforce or the Cummins. far ahs HP figure 300 HP or so i dont have an exact number. your top speed is determend by how much you idle. the more you idle, the slower you go

    i worked for Knight.
If your lucky you'll get an 2010 or older Volvo with the Cummins.
    450/475 HP if they're 9-speed
    435/460 HP if they're 10-speed

    IH's 2009 to 2011 Cummins 455/480 HP 10-speed only

    Volvo's 2011 and newer VED13 425/450 HP 10-speed only

    Hope this info helps.

I think all Knight Volvos are the 670 sleepers. Correct? The 780 sleepers like mine had space for a fridge. I don't know if the 670's had enough space for one.

Volvo D13's aren't a bad engine. They're pretty efficient. They sip fuel at idle because they are designed to idle at 700 rpm in order to run the "clean idle" cycle. Good for .6-.8 gallons per hour.

I preferred the Volvo's over the IH's due the tighter steering radius and better ride but the IH's have more interior room.

I'm seeing that most are the 670's. If not equiped with apu's. What are acceptable idle times to run the a/c? And still be able to run full speed next day?
    Thanks for the info.

Very basic of trucks, no amenities like fridge or power inverters over what you can get out of a 12volt power outlet. Trucks are set to idle when it's hot or below freezing. I never had a real problem with pay but I was on daily pay. Miles were based on me and what I was willing to do. Turn down loads and you will sit. Running out of the Phoenix area you will spend a lot of time in SoCal and playing the I-5 shuffle.

Say hello to Terry and Steve in the training dept. Good luck.
