Thank you my freind. Hope you had an awesome holiday. 136,000 is a low number for me over the last few years. Nothing like leaving NJ on Sunday, Cali on Thursday and back in Jersey on Monday. No more of that stuff. I like running legal. I light a fire under their butts, but they've been pretty good at keeping me busy. I don't have to sit around a lot. At Lessors there was restarts constantly. Not here. Hell, a month or two between them. It does burn you at a point and I do get a little irritated at 62, but it is what it is. I'm going to talk to them about buying a truck. Maybe start controlling my own destiny a little bit. We will see. I think I can make it as an O/O. I know I have the work ethic. Irregardless of what I do, I'm thinking hard about it.

Do your homework before buying... a lot of hard runners go broke because not understanding the business aspect of trucking. I was in management for years and share a similar desire. However, after finding a site with a checklist of goals to consider before becoming an o/o I realized it was not the best for me.
To be honest with you, had I not been put in a spot where we had to purchase a new car last year I would be leaving the industry right now. Should my bass boat sell this spring I may be able to pay it off this year and move on.. or at least slow down a bit.
This is something that might work for me with the heartland deal. Possible regional gig is looking good.
We will see what the new year brings.vikingswen Thanks this. -

I cant really remember what it was. . But the questions really were not about trucking or business so much.
They were about things you would never consider...
Of course operating capital is always at the top but it was things like cost of income replacement insurance due to illness or injury..life insurance... personal goals... health insurance... unemployment insurance oddly enough...all the extra taxes... how long do you intend to continue working...do you enjoy working on a truck..
It's not all about driving a truck..
When I took the survey the results were clear since I really would rather retire than start another business. . Just don't have it in me anymore.."Hang - Man" and vikingswen Thank this. -
Very good points, things i wouldn't probably think of . Sometimes its better to have others worry about those things and just drive or what ever vocation your into. Thanks

I have a freind that's leased on to Fed Ex Custom Critical. He was at Lessors with me. I've been watching him and taking cues from him.

Friends can be helpful but sometimes they're reluctant to admit it when things aren't going well. .

If I were going to drive longer I think I would buy one... would never consider a lease though
