I am a fuel hauler in Minnesota. I'm looking for a hand-held device that I can store information on my pick-ups and drops, browse the internet and may be able to link a google earth picture. From what I've seen in this forum I can imagine that some sort of tablet, may be a Kindle, might be what I am looking for. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you.

IPhone and applicable apps should get you taken care of. The Google app is pretty full featured and especially if you log in as a Google user to send links, saves addresses, etc. A tablet is fine too if you just want more screen space, but a good smartphone will do it all too and fit in your pocket. As far as storing information, there are all sorts of generic apps that may or may not work for you, depending on how specific you're looking for.

A smart phone (either the iPhone or an Android-flavored one) will suffice.
A tablet normally wants a WiFi connection and those are not always available. Normally, a cellular connection (AKA "phone") is available. -
I'd ask anyone who is selling you a device to demonstrate what you would be using.
i.e. word processing, storing data, specific apps, map functions and if you can export/send to another device, etc. -
I'd suggest a smart phone...preferably i phone. That being said, does your company have an "app"? My company has an app that mirrors my driver tech. I don't need to write down load info...its already in my phone.

A smartphone would probably work. Make sure you are going to be happy with the screen size. If you going to go the size of a tablet you might want to check on the MS surface. Its basically a table sized laptop which can mount to a keyboard. Keep in mind that any device will need internet access for using the web.

The Windows devices come with Microsoft Office on them. I use Excel for my budget on my Windows phone. The Microsoft Surface as Merlin969 linked should have it as well but double check.

It would be just basic info like name, address, phone number, directions and any other "special notes" that I need to make. I already have a smart phone so I do have access to a Google Earth satellite views on the fly, but if I could save a picture of that offline that would be awesome.

i would suggest a tablet, you dont need the priciest one out there but if you get one for less than two hundred dollars or so you may be quite disappointed. do your research dig into the technical numbers to make comparisons. resolution, processor speed, etc. there are many options and most will meet or exceed your requirements. consider getting one thru your wireless provider if you want internet without a wifi connection.

Samsung Galaxy note 2 works great for this... I run elogs, DAT boards, Google earth / maps with sat images of my delivery points.. email with load details and Real Time tracker for my customers to get location updates without having to call me.
cool thing is i'm already paying for a sell phone, so nothing extra to buy
