Man it was cold in Owatanna, Minnesota last night/ early this morning. My dash, and cell phone, showed -12 degrees.
Now I'm sitting in Dewitt, Iowa waiting for a w/a. Its cold here too. 5 degrees and snowing! Ya gotta love the north country in the winter.

Blind Dog, seen the pics of your truck. Looks nice and clean. What do you use to clean/vacuum the floor?

I use Mcquires wipes and a dust broom. I do NOT like armor all products. I constantly clean the inside of my truck. Believe it or not, thanks to Baghdad, I now have an allergy to DUST!

Well, I got a w/a for slinkies. Had to remove the glass racks to haul steel. I have no problem hauling flatbed freight as a back haul from Canada orsome other corner. However, when I'm 1/2 mile away from a glass plant, I have a big problem with that. If I wanted to haul flatbed freight I would be in the flat bed division!
So, its below zero temp and I'm taking down the racks. When I finish and start my pretrip, I find an antifreeze leak around my DEF tank. I send in a break down macro and was instructed to drop the trailer at the glass plant, then Bob tail to Iowa 80 for repairs. While inside the glass plant yard, I see 4 loaded trailers sitting there collecting snow. So I'm like wth?? Long story short, I lost that slinky load and have a new load. Yup, its one of the preloaded trailers at the glass plant. A whole 500 miles for a Thursday noon appointment. That'll make for yet ANOTHER low mile week. If they're trying to make me leave Maverick, all they need to do is keep on doing what they've been doing for the last 9 or so months!

I picked up a preload in Church Hill, delivering to Massachusetts for a Monday am appointment. A whole 800 miles with 3 days to drive it. When I had my sit down with the glass mgr about my "less than stellar miles" I was told they would inform the csr's to keep me running in the southern parts of the country for better miles. Since then, I've had one run to Texas, and everything else has been frozen north and north East. When I send my empty macro tomorrow, I'm real curious to see my next w/a. THAT will determine whether or not I call a different carriers recruiting dept.

Have you talked to other glass haulers? What are they averaging on miles a week?

Have you thought about going regional flatbed, RAT or US, they seem to get pretty good miles from what I read on here.

There's also the flatbed long haul and temp control. They both seem to get pretty good miles as well.

Just curious. enjoying your thread. Keep safe.

Yeah, no, I have no desire to haul flat bed. Been there, done that. As for TCD, with Mav I've been told their miles are low also.

I've spoken to 2 different carrier recruiters, and filled out 2 on line apps. We'll see what happens. BTW, my next load is yet another krappy low mile load. If I don't get another load after this for this week, it will give me a whole 1500 and change. Keep in mind I stay out a MINIMUM of 3 weeks.

I hate to hear that. Maybe things will pick this spring. If not I hope you find a company that meets your needs. I'm going flatbed here soon. I don't expect to get a lot of miles at first. My focus will be on securement and tarpping. Once I have a acquired those skills then I'll focus on increasing my miles. Keep us updated. A lot of new drivers learn from everyone's experience on these threads.
