If you think maybe you want to pull tanks for Prime at some point you might want to take the tanker endorsement as well.
Nj cdl permit test different then a Missouri cdl permit test.

My first year I only wanna run reefer. I wanna get the feel of handling and driving the truck, before I move on to something more complicated. I plan on getting all endorsements after passing the initial test I need to pass. Then when I switch everything to NJ I will take the rest.

There going to tell you to get tanker too because some of the stuff that you haul in the refer. and they will ask you to get hazmat further down the road but its not mandatory I recommend trying to get your permit before going to prime though because you only have so many attempts to do it before they send you home and they don't pay for your return bus ride. I work for prime now and went through the training its not very hard just a lot of studying.

I thought of getting my permit in nj before I go. But they want 125 for the cdl permit test and road and 90 for the DOT physical that Prime doesn't recognized anyway. So it was almost a waste of $200 that could be saved for the road instead of taking the 200/week loan and be in debt. Im confident enough that I will pass maybe not first shot. But I will pass. Thanks for everyones input

Yes I know the trucks are governed to 62 on the cruise and 59 on the pedal. If your truck is governed to 55mph, sounds like they need to learn how to save fuel better. Going that slow sounds like a get i would get that fuel bonus as company driver. Idc what other truckers have say. Its my life, its how I wanna go about getting my cdl. If the company was that bad, no one would drive for them. Every company has its good and bad. Its whats a best fit for me. I like the sound of making 0.37-0.42 cpm starting out, instead of making less then that and owing a bunch of money. I dont mind the Lightweight trucks either. What a 1 year contract for free a cdl. If I went private school and paid 3k just to have go out with trainer for most companies 4-6 weeks anyways. So when not use a company to earn my cdl on their dime not mine. We all know Prime is a starter company, I just think it fits me fine. So what Would you say then? My only two other options where Roehl and Central Refrigerated.

I get that you'll run less miles per week, but you also start at .37-.42CPM, plus acessory+fuel bonus... 3500 miles @ .28cpm is less than 2500 miles at .42, so yeah. -
As new drivers nothing wrong with slow trks.Thats actually the best way to learn.Less likely for students to get nervous.But for drivers with exp,it sucks big time.My last company the local trks were 57 and that's one of the reasons why I quit.Picture going up hills with a heavy load in a 57 mph trk.You'll average like 25 mph till you reach top then takes a good couple miles before you gain speed again.Alot more shifting and many times you won't be able to stay in 10 gear for long because you have yet another hill and downshift a couple gears.It takes along time to get anywhere.Try outrunning a moped,bet the moped would win.

Im not about winning the race from shipper to receiver. I am here to learn, drive safe, handling the truck. Idc if it goes slow. Since i will be a rookie, im fine with the slower truck. Yes the mountains will suck, but it is what it is. Happy New Years to all.
