A friend of mine purchased a Yanmar track hoe that caught on fire. He needs to winch it up on a trailer. Does anyone know how to unlock the rubber tracks so it will roll freely?

I don't beleive there is an unlock as there normally are hydraulic motors. Might be able to tie into the system with a portable hydralic pump.
kurbski Thanks this. -
Take the outside plate off final drives. Should be a row of 8 to 10 fairly small bolts to remove plate. In the very center of final drive is a round gear with a small shaft on it (axle) remove it. Be sure machine is scotched as removing both sides it freewheels at all times. I have hauled several bigger machines that way just chain it down good.

Ok I'll pass it on. I'm a tanker yanker and don't do heavy haul. Thank you both for the replies. It's a one time deal and he's on a limited budget so I really appreciate it.

These bolts should be the farthest outside row not the ones that hold sprocket to final. If any questions pm me and I will talk you through it I have been an equipment mechanic for 20 years just trucked part time till a year ago. Be glad to help.
