I dunno what it is about Mt. Shasta, but I've seen more than one weird cloud formation there.
Great pic.

That cloud is a Lenticular cloud caused by orographic lifting:

We get lenticular clouds over MT. San Gorgonio and Mt. San Jacinto sometimes as well.
