I read somewhere that they train you to get your CDLA? Is this true? If so, they are hiring for dockworkers in my area, should I go for it? I'm thinking I should :) What do you guys think?

YES! Go for it. Half of the guys that work with me got their CDLs like this. All they had to pay for was the test itself. AND they were getting paid per hour for switcher work while learning how to back. Compare that to going 5-7k in debt just to go otr with a bottom feeder to be home once a month for three days.

I don't know anything about Estes but plenty of people get their CDL through LTL companies, the only thing you pay is the test fee and you are actually paid for your time. Ask them if they let you drive the yard dog to learn how to back, that way you can also learn how do hook up and break doubles. It will be a good learning experience. I'm assuming part time dock workers start at around $13/hr. It should go up if you are full time.
