this is why I ask for time off to begin with. I knew we were going to be idle from dec 18 till after jan 1. our company only works one well at a time and they had finished the well on dec 18, during this down time no one loses any time if you are schedule to work you come to work and find something to to do to kill 12 hrs and go home. your normal week is 4 on 2 off 1 on stand by no need for stand by sence the well was finished so you got 3 days off. why my schedule was planned the way it was for Christmas I don't know, I can only assume it was to keep me there them thinking if I left I wouldn't return.the problem I had with this is we did nothing but take naps in our vehicles on the nights we were schedule to work. not one truck left the yard from dec20 till dec 30. no the company has a lot of work it was just the holidays and how things worked out. if the well had been working I wouldn't even thought of asking off.

10speed55 Thanks this. -
Gawd, I cannot stand busy work! I want to either BE busy or go home....

Sorry to hear it 10speed. It does seem pretty silly that they wouldnt work with you in that situation. If they had been busy and needed you for all of those days, it would have been understandable. Some of the oilfield attitudes are pretty hard to work with...or understand.

hello everyone I'm back home now and unemployed again. my texas trip was for sure an adventure and an expensive one at that. now i'll be looking for same work but a company who allows time off once every 2 months or so. didn't find any in texas that do that. it felt like I was in ND this morning 4 degrees with wind chill of - 8. I know it's a lot colder there but after it hits 0 don't seem to matter to much.

well I hope you went home with at least some good money in your pocket. hopefully you recouped your losses. good luck driver
