Have an 07 freightliner 14liter Detroit.... truck pulled great.. was getting ok fuel mileage now the ?wastegate actuator? on the turbo sounds like it is leaking air.... truck has lost power and mpg... It isn't an exhaust leak.. It sounds like the actuator diaphragm is leaking..

The question is would this affect my power and mpg ALOT.. This thing went form 6.2 to 4.9 and dropping gears a lot more.. just now noticed this leaking today...

Truck has been sick for a week or 2..

Yes, it will affect mpg. New turbo and calibration will do wonders for you

I am no mechanic but had this same engine and did have a leak in the charge air cooler once, and several bad turbos.

If the wastegate actuator is leaking your boost pressure can potentially climb high enough for the ECM to derate. That would certainly result in the symptoms you're seeing.
