I'm looking at buying two Truck Spec Helical Coil antennas for my 2013 Cascadia. I'd be using factory mounts, coax, and have a Cobra 29LTD Classic.

What do yall think of this antenna? Im trying to stick to ones I can buy at the truck stops because I'm saving points to buy them. Mostly Flying J/Pilot and Loves.

    Thanks.

I have nothing to add because dont know anything about the antenna but after googling it I had to laugh a bit when they advertised that it's "air cooled".

Murph, would you rather they said water cooled? Now that should really get you going.

Have a cb shop make coax ant test it for shorts..One coax for one ant is 50 ohms and twin is 72..
Go on ebay and order a predator 10k with single coil and 12"shaft cause sooner or later your gonna add power..
Do a google on quality cb shop..I found but didnt save the page that reviews cb shops..
Run pwr/gnd with fusable link direct to battery..Ground/bond your set up to,the non electrical kind..
Dont rely on your radio swr meter but only as a guide...Those seperate swr meters are no better either...Have a cb shop test it with an analyzer like a mfj259b typr.....

Go with the Wilson 2000. They are built to withstand the punishment that being on a truck can put on an antennae and can handle the higher watts as well.

    Lost me there craig....

I have noticed tho in allot of your posts, you recommend going and having allot of the work done at CB Shops, as for tuning or doing minor work...

With most of the dealings I have had over the years with local so called "CB Shops" I find this disturbing...

Most don't take the time to really fine-tune antenna's, and some scare the hell out of me when they start poking their screwdrivers inside my radio!

I do agree that using a MFJ 256b antenna analyzer is one of the best ways I have found to get your antenna properly tuned, but even after tuning with the analyzer, I usually still hook up my swr/watt meter or field strength meter, to do a little more fine tuning to get the best forward gain. I have yet to ever see any CB Shop go to that much trouble...Mainly because to a shop "Time is money" and all they are going to do is tune your antenna to a basic ball park reading so you don't blow your stuff up...

Mfj analyzer's are not cheap by any means...I payed $245 for mine, and that was back in 2004, I think they are about 30-40-50 bucks more than that now, but they come in handy when your installing a new antenna and as long as you take care of the thing they last forever.

Might be just me, but I like working on my own stuff as much as I can, otherwise your always going to be at the mercy of these so-called CB Technicians that will tell ya anything you want to hear, and show you "On their Meter" how a 4w Cobra 19 is doing 75w's after they tuned it...
