I did some searching and couldn't find an answer to this. I have a prescription for generic Xanax. I was only prescribed this for anxiety for flying only and do NOT take it on a regular basis. (10 pills are good for a year) Its something I take about twice a year only when I fly and ONLY for that. ( I have an irrational fear of flying and a wife that likes to travel hence the prescript) Doc would easily provide a letter that it is only for this reason. Is this something that could hold me back? I could call today and have the doc cancel the prescript and never need or take it again. We fly about once/twice a year at most. Certainly never take it for any other reason. Is this going to present a problem for me?
I do not have anxiety problems other than flying and would never ever ever have it in or use it in the truck. Like I said this is something I take 30 min before I board a plane only.

did not see Xanax on this list. Did you ask the physician that prescribed it for you if it would be okay to operate a commercial vehicle while taking Xanax???Olsmann Thanks this. -
Not a driver yet (school starts in a month) was prescribed it long before I made the decision. Not sure if you read my whole post but under no circumstances would I operate a vehicle on it
-
Keep your prescription and your pills.....there is absolutely no problem with what you have described. Besides, if you got stranded somewhere and needed to fly home you would need your pills.
-
Do you think it will disqualify me from certain companies even if im up front about it? I worry about a hair follicle test? I could fly today, get a hair test in 2 months and it could show up? It leaves the urine in a couple days although I don't this is tested for in the urine tests. Its a benzo so im sure its on the DOT no go list. Just wondering if I should cancel the prescript altogether to avoid any probs. I can fly without it but its a white knuckle "there's a man on the wing of this plane!!!" type thing for me to do it. lol -
Xanax is a benzo. Definatly not legal to have that in your system while operating a CMV. If you got in an accident and injured or killed some one, you would go to prison.
-
Right I get that just wonder how I should handle it? Be upfront with the company and keep the script? or cancel it altogether
-
You don't have to tell the company, but it wouldn't be a good idea to carry it in the truck. It's just asking for trouble.NavigatorWife Thanks this.

Also, benzos will stay in your system up to 10 days. So if you take one, make sure it's out of your system before you get back behind the wheel.
-
Contrary to those that say do not tell, but carry, most must not remember the long form which the company gets a copy of.
