My aunt & uncle and their children in car heading home on leave with the Air Force. On a 2 lane road somewhere in the midwest & him speeding, tired, and late at night. My aunt & uncle both screamed at the same time as a white horse was standing in the roadway. He slammed on the brakes and the car skidded to a halt. They got out of the car and there was no horse to be seen. They then noticed the car was stopped just a few feet from the edge of a cliff where the road made an L-shape turn.

Interesting post, the mention that the horse was white really struck a chord with me. Have had two experiences of unexplained events and the color white was present in both.Chinatown Thanks this.

This one isn't necessarily from the road, but creepy all the same. My parents used to have this fat longhair cat named lucky. She was in the family for quite a while, and she was somewhat territorial, temperamental. She also would sit a watch people with that "go to hell" stare. (While she was friendly to me and my parents' and their friends, she hated my sister, and one time I brought my now ex-gf there, this cat would hiss & snarl at her, as well as any other animal that came near the house. With the exemption of their very old dog, boomer) after this cat reached old age, she started developing vision and arthritic problems, until the vet diagnosed her with a brain tumor, and she was put down.
My parents placed her euthanized body inter her cat bed, wrapped the bed in a garbage bag and placed her, along with the 2 urns filled with the ashes of our 2 long-dead family dogs(ok, mom was a little bit affectionate of her 2 babies now that me and my sister were grown)and they place a large rock over the grave.
2 weeks after she was buried, we saw another cat of the same exact size and coloring of Lucky sitting on top of that same rock, very still and with that same hostile glare. -
Wonder if the baby was a girl?

The only time i have felt real fear of the unknown was when i was asked to do a trip up onto the Atherton Tablelands near Mareeba south west of Cairns to pick up a load of bagged spuds, inland from the tropical coastlands of north Queensland Aus.I normally did Mackay/Townsville taking the truck over from the Brisbane driver and after it was unloaded/ reloaded in Townsville i would head back to Mackay and change over with the Bris driver. But because it was a Friday night and there was a blow out in Cairns freight i was asked to milk run all ports to Cairns with the 8ton truck that usually did the run. After unloading in Cairns i headed south to the Gillies Range road then west to start the climb up the range.By then it was about 1 a.m in the middle of the night.I was driving a c.o.e plastic cab Atkinson with a 6v92t G.M pulling a 40 foot steel ribbed container that had been converted into a road trailer with an 11 foot spread axle bogie. It took about 40 minutes to do the climb but about half way into it the circuit breakers cut in and i lost my headlights. The higher up the range i got the thicker the fog,so on park lights i tried to find a place to pull over.Eventually i found a spot and getting down out of the cab i went to check on the trailer until the breakers cooled and i could get headlights again. As i rounded the back of the trailer i had the distinct feeling of evil come over me.I don't know what was there in the darkness, but i wasn't about to hang around and find out. So i got back in the truck and took off. The circuit breakers had cooled enough to give me low beam, but even if i had no lights i would have driven up the range by torch light if i had to.

A couple of years ago my old man and I pulled into the old Ambest in Doswell, VA exit 98 on 95. He liked to park far away from the fuel islands and closer to the truck shop which was closed at that time of night. At around 3 am we both woke up to the loudest bang which shook the whole truck. We thought great someone backed into the truck...we both went outside and there was nothing around us...mind you this was on a Saturday to Sunday where most truckstops especially this one are ghost towns on weekends. No damage was done to the truck, checked all the air bags under the cab and sleeper, nothing. To this day its a cool story to tell, among many others lol
